Low-Sugar Savory Biscuits - A Thoughtful Snack for Health-Conscious Loved Ones

Today, my parents traveled a ten-hour journey from our hometown to visit me. Eager to prepare something delicious, I considered my father’s high blood sugar, limiting his intake of heavy meals, and often feeling hungry after a walk. Store-bought snacks tend to be overly sweet. Hence, I’ve decided to bake sugar-free biscuits, a delightful treat for my dad as a snack. ๑❛ᴗ❛๑
Ingredients:
- 240g low-gluten flour
- 100g milk
- 45g corn oil
- 5g yeast
- 1.5g baking soda
- 2g salt
- Scallions (as needed)
Instructions:
Rinse and gather the green part of the scallions. Finely chop the scallions.
Mix the yeast thoroughly into warm milk. In a large bowl, combine chopped scallions, flour, corn oil, salt, and baking soda using a silicone spatula.
Pour the yeast-infused milk into the bowl and knead the mixture into a dough. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for half an hour. Knead the dough until it becomes slightly smooth. Place the rested dough on a silicone mat and roll it thinly with a rolling pin, preferably thinner for better rise while baking.
Cut the rolled dough into squares (approximately 5cm).
Use a fork to create small holes on each square. Arrange the squares on a baking tray, leaving space in between. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius with both upper and lower heat settings. Bake on the middle rack for about 10 minutes until lightly golden. Allow them to cool before consumption.
Conclusion:
Today’s preparation of these low-sugar savory biscuits ensures a thoughtful and healthy snack option for my father during his visit. The delightful taste of these biscuits, without added sugars, is a considerate gesture toward his health needs.
